Reporting to the Director of Interprofessional Practice and Research, Chief Nursing Executive, the Research & Quality Coordinator will facilitate research projects involving staff who work in the division of all areas/services offered by ESHC. Erie Shores Healthcare works to create new knowledge and evidence to support ESHC in providing high quality exemplary care. The successful applicant will be required to work 37.5 hours per week; Monday-Friday. Clinic setting work within hospital; exposure to adults and/or caregivers. Flexibility to work remotely in a hybrid work model that would include both remote work and on-site work.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

Under the general supervision of the CNE/Clinical Practice Managers, the Research & Quality Coordinator will:

Research:

· Adhere to policies and procedures established for the assigned department while supporting the Mission, Vision and Values of Erie Shores HealthCare

· Liaise with a variety of stakeholders to build research capacity and ensure the successful coordination of all research related tasks

· Work closely with WE-SPARK Health Institute to leverage and grow research capacity

· Coordinate the execution of research activities in accordance with the Tri-Council Policy Statement (TCPS2) and other relevant guidelines and legislation

· Coordinate and facilitate research projects from start to finish, including:

      o Protocol development and measurement strategy

      o Prepare, submit, and manage applications and associated administrative tasks with regard to Research Ethics Board and any          and all external PIs/research teams

      o Project launch and implementation   

      o Support participant recruitment, including screening and obtaining informed consent

      o Create and maintain research files and databases according to study guidelines (Clinical Practice Guidelines) ensuring data          integrity.

· Perform basic statistics and support the analysis and dissemination of research findings (reports, patient briefs, draft manuscripts, conference submissions, posters, presentations and other knowledge translation materials) Perform literature searches and summarize research articles

· Co-ordinate, organize, attend and/or chair relevant research meetings

· Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis

· Assist in preparation of grant/funding submissions

· Monitor grant accounts

· Act as a main organizational contact person with the University of Windsor REB for all submission inquires

· Ensure compliance with current regulations

· Maintain a detailed database to track all research activities conducted at ESHC

 

Quality Improvement:

· Support the organizational Quality Improvement Plan, develop monitor and report on all activities, processes, and procedures including internal audits

      · Determine data-driven solutions and implement quality improvement plans

      · Perform regular inspections and reviews to ensure employees adhere to quality and safety policies

      · Suggesting improvements in the process and pathways

      · Assist with the development of company policies, processes, and procedures

      · Work in collaboration with the team members

      · Conduct quality training sessions and workshops if required

      · Perform any other relevant duties as assigned


QUALIFICATIONS

· Master’s Degree in Science, Arts or other health related field required

· 1-2 years of research experience required

· GCP, TPCS-2, certifications required

· Understanding of research design and methodology, guidelines and standards governing clinical research required

· Understanding of the Personal Health Information Protection Act and good clinical practices required

· Health care research experience preferred

· Project management/project coordination experience preferred

· Experience with Health Canada Procedures preferred

· Bilingualism (English/French) preferred

· Experience with CERNER/EPIC is an asset

· Data Management experience (REDCap) an asset

· Knowledge and practice of statistical software, including SPSS

· Experience in report writing, publication and communication briefs

· Excellent computer skills, including advanced knowledge of research related software (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, literature search engines, Reference Manager or equivalent)

· Outstanding organizational, accountability and time management skills

· Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and think critically

· Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills

· Excellent inter-personnel skills
