Registered Nurse

Applications are now being accepted for Registered Nurses to work in the Emergency Department. The successful applicant’s commitment is 75 hours bi-weekly for Full Time and 45 hours bi-weekly for Part Time. Shifts are 12 hours long, and include both Days and Nights.
 

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Emergency Services, the Registered Nurse will collaborate with all members of the multidisciplinary team while providing individualized planned nursing care to patients according to departmental policies and procedures and the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO). 

 

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses (CNO) required
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BScN) required
  • Certificate in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
  • Certificate in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
  • Certificate in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) required
  • Certificate in Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) required
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Certification in Critical Care required
  • 3 years recent experience in Acute Care nursing is required
  • Maternal, Newborn, Child and Youth Network (MNCYN) Pediatric Course within a year of hire required
  • Cardiac Arrhythmia interpretation competency required
  • Certificate in Wound Care or Ontario Hospital Association (OHA) equivalent required or will pursue within 1 year
  • Certification in Triage required or will pursue within 1 year
  • 2 years experience working in Emergency or ICU preferred
  • Intravenous (IV) therapy experience preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional, caring approach with patients, public, department staff, physicians, staff from other departments and other institutes and agencies
  • Competency with basic nursing skills including, assessment, observation, documentation and problem solving, decision making skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrates leadership as defined by CNO Standards
  • Excellent crisis management skills
  • Previous Intensive Care Unit/Emergency room experience or related courses considered an asset
