Registered Practical Nurse

Department:

Permanent Part Time

Applications are now being accepted for Registered Practical Nurses to work in the ICU/Telemetry Department. The successful applicant’s commitment is 75 hours bi-weekly for Full Time and 45 hours bi-weekly for Part Time. Shifts are 12 hours long, and include both Days and Nights.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Critical Care, Telemetry & Obstetrics, the Registered Practical Nurse will collaborate with all members of multidisciplinary team in providing individualized planned nursing care to patients whose outcomes are expected to be stable and predictable in accordance with the Standards of Practice as identified by the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses required
  • Certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and practices in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the CNO and the regulations of the Regulated Health Care Professions Act (RHPA)
  • 2 years recent experience in acute care/medical surgical nursing is preferred
  • Previous experience with Telemetry patients preferred
  • Previous experience with IV starts preferred
  • Previous experience with Medical Surgical patients preferred
  • Wound care certification or OHA equivalent an asset
  • Palliative care training an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge and commitment to patient centered care model
  • Demonstrates leadership as defined by CNO Standards
  • Excellent Crisis management skills
  • Excellent physical assessment skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively as a team member
