Registered Practical Nurse

Department:

Mobile Medical Support (MMS)

Applications are now being accepted for a Registered Practical Nurse to work on the Mobile Medical Support (MMS) Unit. The successful applicant’s commitment is 75 hours bi-weekly for Full Time and 45 hours bi-weekly.

Reporting to the Operations Manager, Mobile Medical Support Team, the Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) will be deployed out to High Priority Communities (HPC) throughout Windsor-Essex County to provide interdisciplinary Primary Care and social supports. The RPN will work either on the mobile unit or indoors at partnering agencies with the nursing team and client population, aid in health assessments, preventative care and screening, health teaching, working with and engaging HPC and Windsor-Essex Ontario Health Team (WEOHT) partners, and providing community resources to clients in identified HPC locations.

 

Qualifications

  • Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses (CNO) required
  • Ability to wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for long periods of time required
  • Successful Vulnerable Sector Check required
  • IPAC and Wound care experience required
  • Foot care experience is an asset
  • Able to comply with availability requirements and work all shifts, including occasional rotating weekend days (max 2 weekends/month)
  • Able to work with a team or independently and analyze information, problem-solve, and make good decisions
  • Physically capable of lifting and carrying supplies and equipment
  • Able to manage changing priorities and competing deadlines to accomplish objectives in a busy, fast paced environment
  • Excellent documentation and report writing skills (clear, thorough, accurate, and timely);
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to engage and work cooperatively with internal and external stakeholders, individuals, diverse groups and interdisciplinary teams
  • Able to work in stressful, fast-paced situations
