1 Part Time Registered Nurse (Job Posting #2559)
Department: Perioperative Services
Per Collective Agreement


Background

Applications are now being accepted for a Registered Nurse to work in perioperative services. The successful applicant will be required to work days, including on call on weekends and evenings. The candidate will be required to rotate throughout all of perioperative services - Day Surgery, PACU, PASC Clinic and Operating Room.


Education

• Current Certificate of Competence with the College of Nurses
• Able to demonstrate a progressive history of continuing education within the specialty
• Post diploma/degree education in Operating Room nursing required
• Certification in Perioperative nursing required
• Current ACLS & BCLS certification


Skills and Ability

• Excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills
• Knowledge and commitment to client centered care model
• Demonstrates leadership as defined by CNO Standards
• Crisis management skills
• Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team


Work Experience

• 1 year PACU/critical care experience preferred
• 3 years recent Perioperative Nursing experience preferred

SALARY RANGE: Per Collective Agreement


Background

Applications are now being accepted for Part Time Unit Clerk to work on the 2nd Floor. The successful applicants will be required to work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays. The commitment is 37.50 hours per bi-weekly pay period.


Education

• Diploma in a recognized Medial Administration program

Temporary Part Time After-Hours Administrator (Job Posting 2608)
Non-Union


Background

Applications are being accepted for a Part Time After-Hours Administrator. The successful applicant will be required to work on site 1530-2330 and take call 2330-0630. The On-Site After-Hours Administrator is the most senior management person on site and is responsible for addressing any and all issues that arise in consultation with the Senior Leadership Administrator on-call as required. Responsibilities include the coordination of patient flow for all corporate programs and services; providing support to staff and coordinating nursing staff.

Responsibilities

Facilitates the effective flow and/movement of patients throughout the organization by:

  • Understanding and acting on the corporate priority of ensuring that the emergency department has as few patients awaiting an in-patient bed as possible
  • Understanding the process for assigning beds to patients when all “existing” beds are in use (for example, flex beds and the use of surgical bed)
  • Understanding the process(s) for transferring patients to other health care facilities in Canada or the United States
  • Facilitating the admission, discharge and transfer of patients in collaboration with all hospital services including the admitting and emergency departments and with the most responsible staff nurses (charge nurses/MRP’s)
  • Identifying issues and /or barriers to having patients admitted to in-patient beds and offering solutions to the issues identified

Facilitates the effective utilization of nursing staff resources throughout the organization by:

  • Understanding the corporate programs and services
  • Understanding the staff to patient ratios for the various programs, services and clinical areas and the variability of these ratios (for example, patient acuity and experience of staff)
  • Being knowledgeable about the Collective Agreements that govern the roles and responsibilities of staff
  • Effectively coordinating nursing staff resources according to patient and nursing staff needs

Supports the on-going development of effective and efficient program teams by:

  • Facilitating regular communication with the nursing and support teams to ensure the effective flow of communication through the program and services and across the organization
  • Providing nursing leadership with regular reports and feedback regarding opportunities for improvement
  • Providing input into nursing staff performance appraisals as required especially in situations where disciplinary actions are required

Education

  • Registered Nurse eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
  • Bachelor Degree in Nursing – required.
  • Master Degree in Nursing or Health – preferred.
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing principles, procedures and practices in accordance with the Standards of Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario and the regulations of the Regulated Health Professions Act (RHPA)


Experience

  • 3-5 years progressive leadership/management responsibilities in an acute care setting
  • Minimum 5 years relevant clinical experience required
