ESHC Celebrates Nurses Week

May 13, 2021

During the past year, nurses and front-line staff have faced a tremendous amount of adversity caused by the pandemic. As part of National Nurses Week, Chief Nursing Executive Misty Fortier sent the following message to staff, thanking them for their hard work and dedication:

This week we’re celebrating National Nursing Week, and the many roles nurses play in a patient’s healthcare journey.

In my nursing career, I’ve never been more proud to be a nurse than I have been throughout this pandemic. Each of you has shown a level of strength and resilience as we have navigated a year of change and unknowns. Nurses, it’s my hope you take a few moments to acknowledge the challenges and the successes of the past year, and in your nursing career.

This year’s theme for National Nursing Week is #WeAnswerTheCall, which is so appropriate as we respond to the changing healthcare needs of our community.

With our experiences over the past months, I find this quote hits home more now than ever. “A nurse is just another word to describe a person strong enough to tolerate anything and soft enough to understand anyone.” You each inspire me every day, and I thank you for your commitment, patience and courage. Please take care of yourselves and each other as you continue to provide safe, quality care for our patients and families.

Thank you for continuing to selflessly provide compassionate care to our patients and our community.

Happy Nurses Week!
